Through its location and scale, this work seeks not only to engage in a dialogue with public space, but also to activate an area where various sculptures, linked
in one way or another to civil works, converge. In this particular case, the relationship is established with the construction of the José María Córdova Airport.
Taking this connection between progress and culture as a starting point, I chose the Túnel de Oriente (Eastern Tunnel) as a subject of study. Due to its length and
complexity, it represents a highly significant engineering project, not only for Medellín and Rionegro, but for all of Antioquia.
 

After understanding how natural resources were utilized during the mountain's excavation, used mostly for road paving, structural elements, and landfill,
I decided to recreate that relationship between progress and culture. This serves as a homage not only to the engineering project itself, but also to the 'Doña Montaña'
that made it possible. Without them, neither progress nor Antioquian culture would exist.
